Two old friends in a high school gym
Talked of times when life was a whim.
Recalling those days with a sigh;
Fifty plus years had flown right by.They smiled to think of what was taught
In dusty classrooms where they thought
All the knowledge they’d ever need
Would be learned before they were freed.I was so quick with a slide-rule,
Said one, what a great tool!
It’s a skill that couldn’t be beat;
Too bad it was soon obsolete.The other agreed, before long
Theories we studied were proved wrong.
And think about all that we read
About countries so long since dead.We learned so many useless facts
That didn’t help with daily acts.
They taught us skills we’ve not used since
But one skill made all the difference.We learned to read and think things through
Solve problems that are ever new.
We gained, for knowledge, a yearning
We learned how to keep on learning.
Success Tip: The difference between those who are educated and those who aren’t is not so much about their level of formal education. Truly educated people continue to learn every day. If you want to reach your full potential, keep on learning!

Well written words of wisdom. With so much changing I am surprised people still associate the picture of an apple with a stack of school books.
